The Office of Institutional Equity and Title IX (OIETIX) is the IU Northwest campus resource for issues of equity in academic and workplace environments. OIETIX advises IU Northwest campus members on practices which ensure compliance and equitable treatment of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
OIETIX works to create a campus free from discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct by:
- Ensuring that IU Northwest promotes equal opportunity to overcome the discriminatory effects of traditional policies and procedures with regard to persons with disabilities, minorities, women, and veterans.
- Monitoring how IU Northwest recruits, hires, promotes, and trains employees, and ensures that the campus prohibits discrimination and harassment on the basis of age, color, disability, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, marital status, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, or veteran status (“protected classes”).
- Creating a safe campus community by implementing preventive and immediate measures to ensure a campus free from discrimination and harassment and by responding promptly to all forms of sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual violence, stalking, sexual exploitation, dating and domestic violence.
