Baccalaureate nursing education provides a broad foundation in the sciences and liberal arts necessary for preparing professional nurses who are capable of practicing in a competent and responsible fashion as informed citizens in a global society.

The School of Nursing offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing. In addition to the traditional option, there are two mobility options. First, the B.A./B.S. Mobility Option is an 18-month, full-time program, designed for individuals who have earned a bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing field and have decided on a career in nursing. We offer the RN to BSN Mobility Option for Registered Nurses wishing to complete their bachelor’s degree. In this option, all nursing courses are online and, after the completion.

  • Traditional BSN option
  • Second Degree (BA/BS)-to-BSN option (for those with a Bachelor’s Degree in a field other than Nursing)
  • RN to BSN option (for those holding an RN license who are graduates of an ASN or Diploma program)     

Candidates for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree must successfully complete 120 credit hours that count toward the degree.  A minimum grade of C (2.0) or higher is required in lecture/didactic courses and a grade of S (satisfactory) in clinical courses.  Fifty-one percent of the courses must be completed at Indiana University in order to meet the residency requirement.  In addition, the nursing major must be completed within six years of first enrollment for the Traditional Option, four years for the BA/BS to BSN Second Degree Option, and two years for the RN to BSN Degree Completion Option.

The BSN program prepares completers to sit for licensure exams in all states and US territories with the following exceptions:

  • It does not prepare completers for licensure in the state of Washington.
