Besel lauded for being among ‘Most Cited’
Congratulations to Karl Besel, professor of public and environmental affairs, for earning a top spot on the most cited list of Nonprofit Management & Leadership. In 2011, Besel published an article, “Nonprofit sustainability during times of uncertainty,” along with co-authors Charlotte Lewellen Williams and Joanna Klak.
The publication recently published a special virtual issue that collected the 15 most popular articles from 2010 to 2019, the “Best of the 2010s.”
The articles are listed in order of their number of average annual Google citations, and Besel’s article claims the #10 spot.

Solinas-Saunders pens article on COVID-19 response
Monica Solinas-Saunders, associate professor of public and environmental affairs, contributed an article that appeared online recently on the American Review of Public Administration, an elite journal in Public Administration and Public Affairs. The article is entitled “The U.S. Federal Response to COVID-19 During the First 3 Months of the Outbreak: Was an Evidence-Based Approach an Option?”
The issue was entirely dedicated to an analysis of governments' responses to COVID-19.

Founder’s Day Teaching Awards for 2020
The Office of Academic Affairs is proud to announce the 2020 Founder's Day Teaching Award Finalists:

CISTL recognizes top teachers
A committee of peers selected the following awardees for recognition by the Center for Innovation and Scholarship in Teaching and Learning (CISTL):
- Maureen Rutherford, assistant professor of psychology, and Frances Daniel, associate professor of psychology, were named the recipients of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Award.
- Monica Solinas-Saunders, associate professor of public and environmental affairs, was selected for the Excellence in Online Course Design & Delivery Award.

Matwijkiw noted for publications
Anja Matwijkiw, professor of professional ethics and human rights, has some recent articles to tout. Her most recent, entitled “From Advocatus Diabolic on the COVID-19 Pandemic to Ethical Concerns & International Relations,” was selected as a profile publication in the International Studies Journal.
She also recently published, “American Legal Process Theory (ALPT) and Limits to (the ICC’s) Litigation: Appropriateness, Jus Cogens Norms and Basic (Human) Rights,” in the journal Faculty of Law & Political Sciences.
