Campus Accolades

Whether it’s a published article, book, prestigious award or speaking engagement, members of Indiana University Northwest’s faculty and staff continue to share their wealth of expertise. We applaud the most recent top achievers that have made a name for themselves and IU Northwest.

Ada Azodo, adjunct professor of minority studies, recently contributed a forward for a book entitled, African Women Under Fire: Literary Discourses in War and Conflict, edited by Pauline Ada Uwakweh and published by Lexington Books in New York. The book brings insight and scholarly breadth to the growing research on women, war, and conflict in Africa. This book is useful to scholars, researchers, instructors, students of literature in the humanities, women's studies, liberal studies, African studies, and more at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

In addition, Azodo was recently recognized by The Marquis Who's Who Publications Board for an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, an honor reserved for Marquis biographees who have achieved career longevity and demonstrated unwavering excellence in their chosen fields. Azodo is among the first to receive this new award, received by less than five percent of Marquis listees.

Karl Besel, assistant dean and director for the School of Public and Environmental Affairs, will facilitate a panel at the annual conference of the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA) in October. NASPAA is the membership organization of graduate education programs in public policy, public affairs, public administration, and public and nonprofit management. Besel will facilitate the panel with Charlotte Lewellen-Williams, of the Clinton School of Public Service, entitled Passing the Torch: Planning for the Next Generation of Leaders in Public Service. This panel will present the main findings of their book, Passing the Torch. The “profiles” that were compiled on what motivated successful public service executives, as well as their insights on succession planning, serves as a primary vehicle for developing best practice strategies for recruiting and mentoring new leaders within this growing and dynamic field.

Jennifer Greenburg, associate professor of fine arts, was recently interviewed by the Photo Eye Gallery about her Revising History series. Her work was also recently on exhibit in the Railyard Arts District in Santa Fe, N.M.
