Clubs and Activities
There are many other professional societies and organizations that you may find interesting and may offer academic scholarship opportunities.
In addition, IU Northwest has a variety of clubs and organizations that may appeal to you and faculty encourage our students to get involved.
Redhawk Clubs and Organizations
Students are invited to become student members of AHIMA . This membership automatically includes a membership to the Indiana Health Information Management Association (IHIMA).
As a student member of both organizations, you can minimally qualify for student scholarship opportunities. The AHIMA Foundation offers scholarships for associate degree-seeking students and bachelor degree-seeking students. IHIMA offers an annual academic scholarship award to student members who meet their qualifications.
For a more local HIM professional network, students are encouraged by program faculty to participate and get involved in the Northern Indiana Health Information Management Association (NIHIMA). Several seminars are offered throughout the year, faculty frequently present at these conferences, and this is an excellent opportunity for students to get to know HIM professionals in Northern Indiana. This association also provides an annual academic scholarship award to IU Northwest students.
