Call to Order
Approval of the Minutes--The January minutes were approved.
Fac: what is the time line for implementing this?
Caucci: it's unclear, except that the Trustees want this done
Fac: will this be part of the Academic Handbook?
Caucci: that certainly seems plausible, but remains undetermined
Fac: will each campus implement their policy at different times, or will all campuses approve a policy and then all campuses will implement their policies at the same time?
Caucci: it seems there will be eight separate policies, each approved by the Trustees. Bloomington and Indianapolis are working on their policies, but it seems the regional campuses are waiting to see how Bloomington and Indianapolis proceed.
Fac: this is a good draft, but we shouldn't be hasty in implementation
Caucci: yes, this is just a draft and the faculty's suggestions are still needed and welcome
Rooda: with regard to implementation, at three successive UFC meetings, the President said this issue needed to be addressed by the Spring or the Trustees would implement a policy for each campus.
Editorial comments and suggestions followed. Additional comments should be directed to F. Caucci.
There will be a meeting on Friday, February 26, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. in Hawthorn 219 to solicit comments regarding the two drafts. The purpose of the meeting is to bring both drafts into the best possible shape before voting.
