Recognizing the Career of Lewis M. Ciminillo, Professor of Education
Moved, Seconded, and Unanimously Approved: September 18, 1998
Whereas, he has concluded thirty-three years of exemplary professional research, teaching, and service to the vision and mission of higher education at Indiana University Northwest, and
Whereas, he has rooted himself as a staunch advocate for and a career-long contributor to faculty organization and governance at Indiana University Northwest, and
Whereas, he has distinguished himself as an ardent and skillful advisor, mentor and enabler to faculty, staff and students within the Division of Education and across the Indiana University Northwest campus, and
Whereas, he has earned the profound respect of students, faculty, administrators, community and state officials, and professionals affiliated with national learned societies for his honor and dedication to the ideals of scholarship, duty and service, and
Whereas, he has provided career-long energetic professional and civic service to the City of Gary and the northwest Indiana, and,
Whereas, he has demonstrated the remarkable capacity to command calm in the midst of chaos and discord throughout faculty, administrative and staff deliberations while rallying opposition to injustices to the faculty, and
Whereas, he has held throughout his career the interest and concerns of faculty and their rights and privileges to pursue personal, professional and programmatic goals,
Therefore, be it resolved by the Faculty Organization of Indiana University Northwest that Dr. Lewis Michael Ciminillo is hereby honored on this eighteenth day of September 1998 for his years of exemplary commitment and service to the Faculty Organization, the Campus, and the northwest Indiana community.
