Frequently Asked Questions
Who can use RaiseMe?
High school freshmen (including rising freshmen), sophomores, juniors, and seniors can use RaiseMe.
Why should I use RaiseMe?
This free, online program will encourage you to start thinking about using your academic and personal achievements to help you reach your educational goals. You can track your progress toward scholarships.
Can I really get a scholarship?
Yes! We partnered with RaiseMe to allow you to track your progress toward earning IU Northwest scholarships and see how you can be a competitive applicant. Your RaiseMe total will be included in your financial aid package after you are admitted and your academic achievements, such as grades, courses taken and test scores, are verified through the admission process.
How much does it cost?
RaiseMe is entirely free for high school students. The cost of the program is paid by charitable foundations, colleges, and other funders.
How do I get started?
Begin by creating an account on RaiseMe. Once your account is established, you should follow IU Northwest, and add achievements, such as grades, extracurricular activities and leadership positions, to your portfolio.
How do I receive these scholarships from IU Northwest?
Students must complete their RaiseMe profile by February 1 of their senior year, be admitted to IU Northwest by December 1 and enroll in classes by June 1. The award is automatically renewable when a student maintains a minimum 2.8 GPA, enrolls full-time each fall and spring term (at least 12 credits each fall and spring), and completes 30 credit hours in the academic year which can include summer enrollment.
I’m in 10th, 11th or 12th grade. Can I add things I achieved earlier in high school?
Yes, you can fill in your high school portfolio retroactively with achievements going back to the start of 9th grade. You will be able to track your progress toward scholarships as if you have been using RaiseMe since 9th grade.
Do I have to use RaiseMe to receive IU Northwest scholarships?
No. RaiseMe is a tool for tracking your progress as you prepare for college. Participation is not mandatory. If you decide not to use RaiseMe, it will not hurt your chances of receiving funding from IU Northwest.
Can the RaiseMe scholarship be used in addition to other IU Northwest scholarships?
Your final RaiseMe total represents a minimum amount of scholarship or grant aid you will receive in your IU Northwest financial aid package. If you receive a larger scholarship based upon other factors (like your academic achievement or FAFSA), then that package will include the amount that you have earned on RaiseMe. RaiseMe amounts are always part of your IU Northwest award, not in addition to it.
