Creating Photos for students receiving scholarships from Admissions

  • Scan in the photo using the attached scanner in the Admissions office using Adobe Fireworks CS4.
  • Make sure that the Output Resolution is set to 300 dpi and Output Size is set to Flexible.
  • Click on Preview to preview the photo then click on the Scan button and it will display in the Fireworks editing area.
  • Crop the photo (using the Crop tool) and touch-it up to eliminate gaps in the photo (using the Rubber Stamp tool) for coloring in clothing, etc.
  • Once that has been done, get the dimensions set (600 w x 900 h) at 300 dpi. You might have to set the height set to 900 by (Modify, Canvas, Image Size) tab at the top of the File toolbar or set the width to 600 using the Modify tab.
  • The image can then be adjusted for Color & Brightness.
  • You click on the File tab, then Image Preview, the Saved Settings at the top right should be set to JPEG - Better Quality and click on the Export button.
  • The name of the photo should be in this format: username_300_01.jpg (ex. jdr_300_01.jpg).
  • The photo will be save to a shared area: websites_photos_scholarships.
  • This photo should be sent to John Rudolph, so that he can make the other size formats as follows (all at 72 dpi):
    • jdr_wl_01.jpg = 360 x 504 pixels or 5” x 7” web photos in someone would prefer to click to this larger image.
