Obtaining Web Accounts
- IUN Web Accounts - information concerning obtaining web accounts for Faculty, Staff and Students. Note: Departments are to contact their departmental webmaster to request an account.

Connecting from Home, Off Campus or from IU Northwest's laptop with the Docking Station
- Dial-In or DSL / Cable - SFTP Web Access from off campus (home) use a VPN connection vpn.iu.edu to the www.iun.edu Professional Web.
- When mapping to siteshare be sure to log in with ads.iu.edu\personal_username
- Library databases also use vpn connection.
- The secured systems can also be used from home if the computer is connected to the vpn.
- Users of PCs and laptops that are not part of the ADS domain will need to run the Windows Authentication Update Tool. This tool applies a fix to the PC or laptop that will allow you to continue logging in as before. This applies to all home users who attach to the:
- IUN VPN server
- Ezproxy server for library electronic database access
- Dial into IUN’s dial-in service
- IUN’s wireless network
- The Windows Authentication Update Tool (a one-time update for Windows 2000 and Windows XP) must be used for SiteShare and other applications.
Transfering files to the Webserve Web Server - WebServe, Secured File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) and Telnet
- Transfering files to the Web Servers Webserve and Mercury
- SiteShare - use to put files on the Webserve server
- download desktop icons to connect and disconnect to Webserve (SiteShare).
- WinSCP (SFTP) Transfer Protocol - use to put files on the Webserve or Mercury websites.
- WinSCP (SFTP) or MACSSH (ssh2 secured clients) must be used for Mercury (mypage personal web pages) or Webserve (professional web pages) to transfer files.
- SiteShare - use to put files on the Webserve server
- Telneting - use to create web space on Webserve or Mercury and send commands to a server.
- PuTTY and / or WinSCP (SFTP) or MACSSH (ssh2 secured clients) for Mercury (mypage personal web pages), and Webserve (professional web pages) servers. Telneting may be done ONLY through secured clients.

Creating Web Pages
The IU Northwest website design is a collective and united effort by this campus to develop a more consistent standard in which the campus websites' are designed. It is in compliance with the Indiana University 's Visual Identity and the Integrated Image Guidelines. Please also be guided by using the Indiana University Style Guide to answer any questions concerning document styling.
Note that Indiana University has specific guidelines for use of campus names. IU Northwest should be referred to as: "Indiana University Northwest, IU Northwest". Please note reference to IUN should not be used.

- Protect your e-mail from spam but still have it on the web page. Use your e-mail in the footer, but use the code created here. The Enkoder Form, by Hivelogic, will encrypt your Email address and convert the result to a self evaluating JavaScript, hiding it from Email-harvesting robots which crawl the web looking for exposed addresses. Your address will be displayed correctly by web-browsers, but will be virtually indecipherable to Email harvesting robots.
