FTP and Telnet Setup Screens

Summary Information for Connection to Web Servers

Printing will show screens clearly

As a reminder, Telnet or SFTP web access to IU Northwest web servers from off campus (from home) must be done through a vpn connection.

You must use SSH2 Secured File Transfer Client to transfer files to Mecury (personal web pages - mypage.iu.edu) or Webserve server (professional web server). Telnet to either Webserve or Mecury using SSH2 Secured Client.

Professional Web

  • Add Profile Name = IU Northwest Web accountname
  • Host = Webserve.ucs.indiana.edu
  • username = web account name

My Page - Personal Home Page

  • Add Profile name = IU Northwest My Page
  • Host = mecury.uits.indiana.edu
  • username = your personal username

To set up an FTP connection to the www.iun.edu server, click on the New button and enter the information as shown in this example. Use your own Webserve account username and password.

Remember that directory path information IS case sensitive.

Under the Customize Menu, select new shortcut from the list.

SSH2 Setup Screens

Add Profile

Enter your username and click "ok" then enter your password to connect

Telnet Connection

Telnet screens would look the same as the SSH FTP Screen above. To start a telnet session either:

Click on either the desktop icon telnet desktop icon

Or click at the top of the SSH2 menu to go to telnet
