Fetch Information

Installing Fetch Software for File Transfers
  • Click on Customize and New Shortcut
  • In Name area type in IU Northwest Web
  • Leave Type Unknown
  • In Host area type in Webserve.ucs.indiana.edu
  • In ID area type in your webusername
  • In password area type in your Web Server password
  • In Directory put in your directory name (ex. /ip /webusername/www)
  • OK that entry
  • Note: To edit that list, go to Windows and fetch shortcuts. Then highlight the item you want to edit and go to customize and edit bookmark.

  • Put in your e-mail address and change the default shortcut to IU Northwest Web
  • Click OK to save settings.

Copying files to the IU Northwest Web

  • Starting Fetch after setting it up or after you have disconnected from another site, Go to File, New Connection and the default IU Northwest Web site will appear. Just click on OK to start.
  • When Connecting after you open Fetch, the default IU Northwest Web site will appear, just click on OK to start.
  • When you are connected you will be looking at a list of files on the IU Northwest Web server.
  • To Get files means to GET files FROM the IU Northwest Web server to put on your computer
  • To Put files means to PUT files TO the IU Northwest Web server from your computer
  • To select multiple files, first select the first file you want to transfer. To select other files you want to transfer, hold down the shift key and click the next file.
  • Close the connections either by the File menu or by clicking in the box to close the window.
  • Quit the program when finished.

For Php web pages (personal web pages)

At the Session Property window, Click on New.In the General Tab area complete the following (note: php setup is at the end of this document):

  • Profile Name = IU php - Your Name
  • Host Name/Address= mercury.ucs.indiana.edu
  • Host Type = automatic detected
  • User ID= your username
  • Password = your password
  • Account = leave blank
  • Comment= leave blank
  • Then at the top, click on the Startup Tab.
  • The Initial Remote Host Directory is: /www
  • The Initial Local Directory is: c:\webusername, the username of the account.
