Obtaining Web Accounts
Connecting from Home, Off Campus or from IU Northwest's laptop with the Docking Station
- Dial-In or DSL / Cable - SFTP Web Access from off campus
(home) use a VPN
connection (with special configuration) to the www.iun.edu Professional Web. Library
databases also use vpn connection.

Users of PCs and laptops that are not part of the ADS domain will need to run the Windows Authentication Update Tool. This tool applies a fix to the PC or laptop that will allow you to continue logging in as before. This applies to all home users who attach to the:
- IUN VPN server
- Ezproxy server for library electronic database access
- Dial into IUN’s dial-in service
- IUN’s wireless network
- The Windows Authentication Update Tool (a one-time update for Windows 2000 and Windows XP) must be used for SiteShare and other applications.
Transfering files to the Webserve Web Server - WebServe, Secured File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) and Telnet
- Transfering files to the Web Servers
Webserve and Mecury
- SiteShare - use to put files on the Webserve server
- download desktop icons to connect and disconnect to Webserve (SiteShare).
- WinSCP (SFTP) Transfer Protocol - use
to put files on the Webserve or Mercury websites.
- WinSCP (SFTP) or MACSSH (ssh2 secured clients) must
be used for Mercury (mypage personal web pages) or Webserve (professional web pages) to transfer files.
- Telneting - use to
create web space on Webserve or Mercury and send commands to a server.
- PuTTY and / or WinSCP (SFTP) or MACSSH (ssh2 secured clients) for
Mercury (mypage personal web pages), and Webserve
(professional web pages) servers. Telneting may be done
ONLY through secured clients.
