Audio Streaming
After you have downloaded the Free Helix Producer, open it and proceed as follows.
Setting up Helix Producer to capture the audio
- On the left input side of the screen,
- select Device and select your audio device in the pull down menu.
- video will remain none
- From the top menu, select Settings, Audio Device, Recording Mixer
- Be sure CD Player is selected and Microphone and line in is not selected
- Turn volume up to 3/4 on CD Player
NOTICE having the volume all the way up will cause your end product to not sound right (distorted).

- On the right input side of the Helix Producer screen,
- under the windows, click on the button with the 1 from real audio
and type the name of the file (it will have a .rm extension) and save it in a folder. Remember, streaming makes a large file, be sure to save the file on a device that has enough room. - On the Audiences button, be sure the Encoding Settings for Audio mode are to music. Also use the default , 16K Substream for 28K Dial-up, 28K Dial-up and 56K Dial-up for Audiences in job.
- under the windows, click on the button with the 1 from real audio

Setting up Windows Media Player to play the audio cd
- Open Windows Media Player, from the Start, Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, Windows Media Player.
- I the Menu bar, click on Tools, Options and click on Devices and highlight your CD to get the Audio Properties Window
- Be sure Playback and Copy are set to analog
- if you have Windows XP, the menu bar where tools is located is hidden. Put your mouse on the top controls and then move it toward the top of your screen...the normal windows frame and menu bar will appear.

Capturing the Audio
- To Start Recording
- In Helix Producer, click on the Encode button
- In Windows Media Player, press the Play button.
- To Stop Recording
- In Helix Producer, click on the Stop button
- In Windows Media Player, press the Stop button.
The file will automatically be saved in the location you designated.
