How to Configure and Use SSH2 Client Secure Shell v2 (SSH2) is a client and server package you can install on your UNIX or Windows system to replace the unencrypted versions of telnet, rsh, rlogin, ftp client utilities and the Unix services that host these clients.

PC Images
After you have downloaded and installed the program, two shortcuts will be on your desktop. Desktop images are shown below:
- Desktop icon for SSH Secure FTP file Transfer

- Desktop icon for SSH Secure Shell Client used to Telnet

- Either click on the desktop icon to go directly to the service you want, or connect to one of them and switch to the other by clicking on the icon shown in the next window. If you are in one area, you can click icon the icons indicated below to switch to the other service.

Setting up Secured FTP to transfer files or or Telnet to connect to Mecury or Webserve.
This works similarly in both Telnet or Ftp. Here is sample for the Window for Secured FTP Transfer ![]()

- Click on Profiles and Add Profile
- For Personal Website - mypage account - person's username

- For Personal Website - mypage account - person's username
- For Professional Website - Webserve
- Person's website name - here it is Web Services and Web Technical Infrastructure

- Person's website name - here it is Web Services and Web Technical Infrastructure
- The profile will be created and the window closed.
- Again go to profiles and edit profile
- Highlight the profile you want to setup
- For a Personal Website - mypage account on Mecury - see the example for the username or account for Kathy Horvath

- For a professional web account on Webserve - see the example for the username or account for webnw even though the profile name is "IUN - Web Services and Web Technical Infrastructure", the account name is "webnw"

- Double Click on either the Desktop icon for SSH Secure FTP file Transfer or the Desktop icon for SSH Secure Shell Client used to Telnet
- Click on Profiles
- Select profile you are connecting to
- type in your password when requested.
- (see telnet sample below)

- You will be connected to your account in the terminal mode as a Telnet session.
On the Menu Bar, there are two icons
(shown earlier) clicking on the one you are not currently in, will take you to the other service.
To ftp
- To FTP select the icon on the right.
When your mouse is over the right icon it will show New File Transfer Window. You will get the following screen showing the account name and the directories in the account

- You need to highlight the information on the left to show folders in the www directory
- Be sure you have double clicked on the www directory. This window is where your files are stored. Click on the upload arrow to upload from your local folder to the web, highlighting files you want to upload to the web.

- Highlight the file or folders you want to upload and press the upload button.
- Your files or folders will be uploaded to the server.
Be sure to test your site, by going to the website and viewing your pages. Don't forget to to press reload (holding the control key) to clear the cashe and showing the uploaded file.
