Non-Dithering Colors This page has a chart of 216 "non-dithering" colors. This means these colors will look like the color you ask for on all browsers and all computer screen resolution settings. Try to use non-dithering colors on your web pages. If colors other than "non-dithering" colors have been used, the color may look like it was crated witha solid color, but there are a few lighter colored dots across the top. That color didn't blend at all, but just created the color. Another use of a dithered color might be indicated when you print something in color. Instead of being a straight color, it appeared to be a series of different colored dots. If the colors were mixed together to get the color you were looking for, but it is not displaying or printing as you wanted. They are not mixed. That's dithering. Non-dithering colors always give a nice smooth color on web pages and in graphics. The reason is because these are the 216 colors chosen by Windows and MAC operating platforms to make up their palettes of colors. The colors that aren't represented here are the colors that these try to make up by dithering. W3C Color Safe WordsOnly 16 color names are supported by the W3C HTML 4.0 standard (aqua, black, blue, fuchsia, gray, green, lime, maroon, navy, olive, purple, red, silver, teal, white, and yellow). For all other colors you should use the Color Name or Color HEX value, preferable the non-dithered colors shown below.
