Professional Web Accounts
- Faculty and staff are to request the professional personal account from their departmental webmaster. A list of IU Northwest Webmasters is located on the IU Northwest Website Information page. An active e-mail account is needed before requesting an account.
- Departmental webmasters request the professional personal web account from IU Northwest webmaster, Kathy Horvath, via e-mail request. The departmental webmaster will create the anticipated account name with the first three initials of the departmental web and the first, middle and last initial of the person's name (an account name will be 6 characters). The e-mail request for a professional web account should contain the following:
- person's name
- campus address
- campus phone number
- person's active iun.edu e-mail address
- person's anticipated account name (created as stated above).
Since the webmaster will be the sponsor of the account, the same information is also needed for the webmaster.
- It will take 3 business days for Bloomington to process the account. The requestor and the departmental webmaster will receive an e-mail with password information. Be sure to print the information since you only see the password information once for security reasons.
- Once the person is no longer affiliated with the university, they give up rights to owning the account. However, the person will be given two weeks to remove any files from the account. Departmental Webmasters must notify the main IU Northwest webmaster via e-mail with the person's name, department and web account name so that the account may be deleted.
- Departmental e-mail accounts are available for all IU Northwest Webserve web accounts. Contact IUN's webmaster, Kathy Horvath, via e-mail or at x7753 if you need to activate your account
Moving of Webserve Websites to new server
The web accounts now hosted on Webserve are being migrated to a new server. Migration News gives all notices pertaining to the migration to new servers.
With the migration,
- WebShare will be known as SiteShare
- Veritas will be known as WebServe
With the new server, there will be two ways to log into to upload / download your web files.
- Login to SiteShare using your personal username and Network-ID
- Login to WebServe using the Network-ID of the web account
A web account use to have two passwords, one for the Network-ID and the other for sftp. The web account Network-ID was also used if the web account had e-mail sent to the account. The sftp password was used to log into the Webserve account. Since we use SiteShare, all users have been using SiteShare to access the website instead of using sftp.
With the new servers, the sftp password will be removed. Access to the web account will be through SiteShare (formerly WebShare). If creating forms, login to the web account will need the web account Network-ID in pass phrase format.
Help with your Webserve web account
