Biometric Assessment
Biometric assessments are a valuable resource that can enable you to take action and change the path of your health in real ways for years to come.
The assessment consists of clinical measurements of body mass index, waist, blood pressure, glucose level, pulse, cholesterol, and triglycerides. Many professionals and employers refer to this part of the program as "Know Your Numbers." These numbers establish a a baseline for you. This baseline is used later to provide a comparison for assessing if a condition has improved, worsened, or stayed the same. You will be able to better identify whether you are at risk for developing chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, congestive heart failure, and coronary artery disease.
The process begins with a blood sample that is obtained through a blood draw (during an on-campus event or at your physician’s office).
Generally, you receive test results within two weeks. If necessary, a health coach will contact you to help you understand your health status based on these results. The coach will then suggest specific ways to monitor and improve your health.
For a more complete picture of your condition and overall health, you will want to enter the data from the biometric assessment into the health risk assessment. Since the health risk assessment includes factors such as family history, your results are put into a personalized context, making the data more meaningful and useful. This step occurs online, on the confidential and secure Web site provided by Clarian Health.
You can then print a full report which consists of a personalized program to help you better manage your condition. You also receive a discussion form to share with your physician.
