What is Swingshift College? Swingshift College is a program of the Division of Social Work designed in cooperation with Indiana University Northwest, Labor Studies Program, and the Institute for Career Development (ICD). The program is designed to meet the needs of student workers and family members by offering each course twice a day so students can attend either morning or evening. Classes are offered both on-campus and off-campus for added convenience and are also videotaped and made into DVDs for students who work 12-hour or double shifts. Some classes are "polycomed" (video conferencing) to two or more locations and a streaming video of classes is available on-line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Swingshift College also offers students the opportunity to participate actively in their education by serving on committees, helping with the newsletter, or meeting with instructors. Students taking Swingshift College courses can earn a Certificate, Associate or Bachelor Degree in either Labor Studies or General Studies and can complete many basic requirements for majors in other fields of study. |
