Guided Studies / Critical Literacy Program

Students who do not meet the university's regular or probationary admission criteria may be admitted to the Guided Studies / Critical Literacy Program. In addition to submitting an application for admission, high school transcripts, and SAT scores (if applicable), students may be required to take additional diagnostic tests and submit letters of recommendation. Upon successfully completing required developmental courses, students may enroll in regular university courses leading to a degree.

The program also assists returning adult students who have been out of school for an extended period and who wish to refresh basic skills. The services offered by the Guided Studies program are available to IU Northwest undergraduate students.
