What is an SI Leader? Have you ever wished you could do something over, knowing what you know now? Think of your SI leader in those terms. SI leaders are students themselves who have been where you are right now... students that are prepared to share with you what they have learned. What do SI Leaders have to offer?
SI leaders are not tutors and they don't re-lecture. Instead they help students put the material into perspective during SI review sessions, so that you can learn it more efficiently while developing critical thinking skills. If you are interested in becoming a SI Leader, please fill out an application. Submit the application to Hawthorn Room 425 or contact 981-4296. When do SI review sessions start? On the first day of class, you will be asked to fill out a short survey that will let the SI leader know what times work best for you. Each SI leader will set up 2 or more review sessions a week at times that are most convenient for you. You can attend one or both session; each one will be different. SI review sessions are informal; bring your notes, your textbooks, and your questions. How does SI work?Interested students can attend any or all of the scheduled SI sessions. SI is a great way to study effectively and keep up with course material throughout the semester. During SI sessions, the SI Leader helps students acquire new study skills and helps them to meet the expectations of the professor by coordinating group discussions about the class lecture and by doing various other activities that lead to a better understanding of course material.
