SPEA's Certificate in Environmental Affairs
Academic Features:
The graduate-level certificate would be a 5-course, 15 credit hour
program of the IU Northwest Division of Public and Environmental Affairs and Political
Science. It provides a focused program of study in environmental
affairs.
Certificate requirements are as follows:
- V517 Public Management Economics
- V520 Environmental Policy
- V645 Environmental Law (now offered as V550)
Two additional SPEA graduate public affairs courses are also required.
Among the suggested selections available:
- V550 Environmental Planning
- V550 Environmental Crime
Program Special Features:
The program is flexible enough to adapt to the needs of the pre-career
or in-service person and the individuals that desire a formal introduction
to environmental law, policy and economics issues. Credit in the
certificate program is applicable to the Master of Public Affairs degree
program, upon admission.
The certificate would enhance the experience of individuals currently
employed in industry, non-profit organizations and the public sector by
providing them with economic, policy and legal insight on critical environmental
issues. It would also assist in the professional preparation of individuals
seeking professional employment in occupations facing environmental policy
concerns.

Accreditation Held:
In addition to campus accreditation, the Division of Public &
Environmental Affairs and Political Science is accredited by the National
Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA).
