Gary's Journal - Day
23
Greetings Everyone,
I write this from Thomson, Ga. Today was probably the best ride
of the trip. For once, everything was in our favor. The weather
was cool. As a matter of fact, we started the trip with arm warmers
and a coat. It was around 50 degrees. The road was almost perfect,
very little traffic, some hills, but mostly flat. Lastly, the wind
was mainly behind us. We traveled one of the roads that General
Sherman's (Civil War) army followed on their famous trip to the sea.
We saw a number of plaques explaining the event. We alsosaw some
of the most beautiful houses I have ever seen. We also saw a lot
of very old buildings. The only negative for the day was joe's flat. He had it as we arrived
in Thomson, Ga. We only had a mile or so to go. He holds the record
for flats, around eight or so, with me having two. We still have
a couple more days. I hope I don't catch up. He can keep that
record. We are ready to go to bed, even though it is only 5pm.
Tomorrow, with any luck at all, we will arrive in South Carolina.
We will still need to ride a couple hundred miles, we don't care.
We will have arrived in South Carolina. We will kiss the ground.
We will close for now and try to get this out by motel phone. We
still are having trouble with the mobile phone.
gary, joe, and dion
ps we are still enjoying the ride(if we have days like today) but we
are ready for it to end. wish us luck. |
