Professional Activities:
Dr. Smith joined the faculty at IU Northwest  in 1978 after receiving her Ph.D. from the University of Kansas. She is trained as a social psychologist, and teaches a number of courses in general, experimental, and social psychology. Majors and non-majors enjoy taking multiple courses from her.  Her excellence in teaching has been recognized with numerous awards including the IU Northwest Founders Day Teaching Award and the IU Northwest Outstanding Faculty Recognition Award.

Dr. Smith maintains an active program of social psychological research that currently focuses on attributional and self-presentational processes. She has published 61 articles, chapters, and conference presentations while at IU Northwest. She welcomes student involvement in her research.
