Dr. O'Dell joined the faculty at IU Northwest in 1994 after a
two year teaching/research position at Indiana University,
Bloomington. In addition to her appointment in the psychology
department, she is a faculty member in the Women's Studies program.
She is trained as a developmental psychobiologist and teaches a myriad
of courses in general and experimental psychology. One of her favorite
courses to teach is P460 - Psychology of Women. This course examines
sex/gender issues; their origins, development and maintenance.
Dr. O'Dell has an active research program examining the development
of haptic (touch) perception. In addition, she has a long-time
interest in the development of binocular function in both human and
non-human primates.
Many students have worked on these projects with Dr. O'Dell in the
past and several have earned co-authorship on projects. She encourages
student participation in her research program.
