She is trained as a developmental psychobiologist and teaches a myriad of courses in general and experimental psychology. One of her favorite courses to teach is P460 - Psychology of Women. This course examines sex/gender issues; their origins, development and maintenance.

Dr. O'Dell has an active research program examining the development of haptic (touch) perception. She encourages student participation in her research program.
