Q: What is the campus doing to prepare for an emergency?
A: In addition to establishing this emergency preparedness site to collect safety information in a central directory, the campus is:

• Adjusting security assignments accordingly for special events
• Working with campus offices to develop and disperse emergency action plans
• Identifying emergency contacts in buildings to lead others to safety
• Consulting with local, state, and national emergency management offices and agencies
• Conferring daily with local and federal law enforcement
• Establishing a toll-free line with up-to-date information in crisis situations
• Educating members of the campus community as to measures they can take to increase their personal security
• IU Northwest's Message from Chancellor Bruce Bergland issued to the campus
• Indiana University issued a Statement of Principles to encourage freedom of inquiry, freedom of debate, and respect for the dignity and rights of others
• Sponsoring forums related to war issues
• Educating students, staff, and faculty about things they can do to increase their personal security
• Counseling students through our culture centers and the IU Northwest's Counseling Service
