Emergency Procedures Handbook - Introduction

This handbook is intended for use by faculty and staff members at IU Northwest. It was produced primarily to provide a common sense approach for dealing with various health and safety issues that may occur on the IU Northwest Campus. However, it should be noted that the handbook is only a quick reference. It meets many, but not all, requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, and National Fire Protection Association. For complete building-specific plans, see the Emergency Action Plan for your building.

Recipients of the handbook should become familiar with its contents and all new employees should be made familiar with these procedures during orientation.

Informational blanks have been provided in several sections and should be filled in immediately. Once the blanks are filled in and procedures reviewed, the handbook should be kept in a readily accessible location, preferably near a telephone.

NOTICE
In instances where the emergency procedures for the Northwest Center for Medical Education or the University Police Department differ from those in this handbook, such procedures will supersede the handbook instructions.
