The IU Northwest Police Department is entering a new horizon in modern police
functions. The department is training in many fields and constantly updating
as a professional police department. The department
is made up of professional law enforcement personnel, all of whom are
committed to providing a safe environment for students, faculty, staff,
and visitors while in pursuit of various educational and cultural endeavors.
University officers are police academy trained and receive several hours
of post-academy training, both in-house and at regional criminal justice
centers.

The Indiana University Northwest Police Department is committed to protect
the lives, property, and rights of all people, to maintain order, and
to enforce the law impartially. We will provide the highest quality police
services in partnership with the campus community. To fulfill our mission,
we will strive to maintain the highest degree of ethical behavior, integrity,
and professional conduct at all times.

Accessibility
The Indiana University Northwest Police Department is dedicated to
providing excellent customer service to all faculty, staff, students, and
visitors of IU Northwest. As such, the department employs full-time
(commissioned) officers, part-time (commissioned) officers, and student
cadets to patrol the campus and assist in fulfilling its mission.
The department recognizes that its campus location may not be accessible
to all persons. Therefore, the department is providing the following
information for all those who may need to request services or the attention
of the IU Northwest Police Department.
NOTE: Services provided by the IU
Northwest Police Department can be provided at virtually any campus
location. When it is not convenient for you to come to
the department, we will make arrangements to meet with you elsewhere on
campus.
To request services or the assistance from the IU Northwest Police
Department:
- Dial 6501 from any campus phone (or 980-6501 from a non-campus
phone). The dispatcher will gather information from you and,
depending on your needs, dispatch the appropriate personnel to assist.
- Pick up the receiver on any
emergency phone to
be directly linked to the IU Northwest Police Department dispatcher and
request services/assistance.
- Get the attention of any of our uniformed personnel who provide
foot, bicycle, and vehicle patrols campus-wide 24-hours-a-day.
