1. You have a right to appeal the issuance of a fineable parking citation
to the Parking Appeals Committee.
2. Requirements for filing an appeal:
- Appeals are to be prepared in writing on the "Parking Violation
Appeal" form provided by the Office of Parking Services or by clicking on the "Parking Violation Appeal" form link above. Written
explanations, supporting statements, or memorandum must be on or attached
to the "Parking Violation Appeal" form. Provide adequate
and accurate information, diagrams, and/or pictures to fully explain
your reason for appeal.
- In order for your appeal to be considered by the Appeals Committee,
it must be received by the Office of Parking Services within seven
(7) business days of the date of the violation notice.
3. The Appeals Committee will advise you by mail of its decision on
your appeal within approximately thirty (30) days after filing the appeal.
- If you are dissatisfied with the Appeal Committee's decision, an
in person appointment can be made with the Committee to discuss your
appeal.
- The request for an appointment must be made in writing and received
within seven (7) days of the date of the appeal notification letter.
The in person appointments are scheduled monthly and notification of the next meeting with be sent to you after receipt of your written request for an appointment.
4. In Person Appeal
- You have the right to choose to appear in-person before the Appeals
Committee. This process will be permitted after the initial decision
has been made on your appeal.
- Requests for continuances must be communicated by telephone to the
Office of Parking Services (219) 980-6876 stating the reason you are unable to appear
at the scheduled time and date. Hearings will be rescheduled at this
time.
THE DECISION OF THE APPEALS COMMITTEE IS FINAL
