On Saturday February
28, 2009 IU Northwest hosted one of 9 Science Olympiad
Regional Tournaments in Indiana. This tournament was our 8th consecutive regional. Teams from as far away as south of Indianapolis came. The tournament went without a major hitch as even the weather cooperated. All B and C division events were offered as well as 6 trail events (3 in each division) - 52 events total!. In 2009 the state tournament will take place at IUPUI on March 28. Runner-up B and C division teams were invited to participate in a "Wildcard" tournament to be held at Ivy Tech (Lafayette) on March 14. A big thanks goes to all the judhes and volunteers who put in so much time and effort to make the tounament happen. A special thanks goes to the IU Northwest Administration, Physical Plant, Police, Information Technology, Special Events, Student Life, Cafeteria and Bookstore for all thier support, hard work and contributions, Special thanks also goes to the College of Arts and Sciences, CHHS and The School of Education for their support. Finally, a big thanks to the coaches, students and parents for being such gracious guests.

Schools were divided into Class A and Class AA divisions and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies
given in each division. The top 4 middle schools and top 3 high schools advance to the state tournament
regardless of class. The runner-up schools in each division advance to the Wildcard tournament.
