Youth Summit Logo Youth Summit - Community Volunteer Information

 

 

  1. Registration Form – Please complete the Community Volunteer Registration Form for the 2010 Youth Summit before December 1, 2009.
  2. Arrival - Please plan to arrive at the Savannah Center between 8:00 – 8:35a.m. for directions to your assigned areas and to pick up your packet.
  3. Time Keepers – Please bring a watch to start and end your session(s) on time. Please refer to the Time Schedule of Events. Please notify the staff in your area when they only have five (5) minutes left before the next session. Move students along quickly to their next session.
  4. Community Volunteer Packet  - We will provide you with information pertinent to the areas that you have been assigned in your packets along with student schedules and a Traffic Controller Map of all areas.
  5. Student Evaluations –During the last session of the day (12:30-1:30 p.m.), please make sure to collect the evaluations that have been completed in your area and return them to the Registration Desk.
  6. Student Wrist Bands – All students will be wearing a colored wristband to determine the area that they should be in during each part of the day. Please refer to the Time Schedule of Events for those locations. Students are to stay in the Savannah Gym during the discussions and not leave the area.
  7. Lunch Tickets - You will purchase your lunch in the Redhawk Cafeteria in the Moraine Center using the ticket(s) that you will receive in your Community Volunteer packet at the Registration Desk upon your arrival if you have volunteered for at least two (2) one hour sessions.
  8. Backpacks - Students are not allowed to bring any backpacks or bags of any type with them.  Female students may carry a small purse. Please check to see that your students comply with this request.
  9. Shoes – All visitors to the Savannah Gym are requested to wear gym shoes or shoes with a soft sole while attending the Youth Summit.
  10. Food - Students may not purchase food in the Redhawk Cafeteria, the Savannah Gym ticket booth or the IU Northwest Bookstore during the summit. No food, outside of the lunch meal, may be brought into the summit area. Students will be asked to dispose of any food brought into the summit area.
  11. No-Smoking - Indiana University Northwest is a non-smoking campus.
  12. Disruptive Students - Counselors will be asked to remove any students from the Youth Summit that are disrespectful or disruptive during any event. Students should be reminded that they are guests at this event.
  13. Restrooms - If a restroom is located in your area, please check it frequently during the sessions for any stray students. Students should not remain in the restrooms for any length of time.
