Exam Reviews

At the end of the rigorous course of study for health occupation students is the professional licensing board examination, a mandatory, comprehensive test to determine occupational competence.  Due to the comprehensive nature of these exams, students are encouraged to participate in available commercial review seminars available in order to properly prepare.  Statistics show that students completing a review seminar are more likely to pass the board exam.

With the price often reaching $200, these seminars were out of reach for some students.  ODP has funding available to supplement the cost of the seminar.  Contact your academic advisor to obtain information regarding a review in your area of study.

For more information about the Occupational Development Program, contact the Program Coordinator, at (219) 980-6832 in Hawthorn Hall 244.

Job Assistance Workshops

The office of ODP offers a free Job Assistance Workshop which is an important part of getting a productive career started once you have graduated. The workshop focuses on four main areas:

  • Resume and job search correspondence
  • Job search strategies
  • Interview information
  • Job search worksheets

For more information about the Occupational Development Program, contact the Program Coordinator, at (219) 980-6832 in Hawthorn Hall 244.

Study Skills Seminars

In order to succeed in college-level courses, students need a number of tools and strategies to help them handle classes, assignments, and tests. Some people come to college already knowing how to use these, but many students have to learn them as they go. The list of topics below highlights areas which often trip people up during their college career.

  • Making the Transition to College for the Returning Adult
  • Motivation and Goal Setting
  • Improving Time Management
  • Effective Note-Taking
  • Developing Test-Taking Skills

For more information about the Occupational Development Program, contact the Program Coordinator, at (219) 980-6832 in Hawthorn Hall 244.
