Recruitment Guidelines

Recruitment Guidelines for Faculty & Professional Staff at Level 16 or Above for use by Search & Screen Committees.

Notice From The Director - Fall 2007

As IU Northwest continues its pursuit of the Shared Vision, it is incumbent upon our campus to understand the significance of a comprehensive process for recruiting and retaining a diverse faculty.  Many institutions and organizations face the task of diversifying their faculty with a lack-luster focus.   This not only makes for a process where most employees spend considerable time trying to comprehend it but more importantly drives earnest efforts for recruitment to early fatigue.  The affect stagnates institutional progress toward critical mass and competitive positioning for student recruitment.

Compiled for your review and conversance are goals representative of a strategic hiring process as adopted from SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management, 2003). Consider what we should be looking for, what we should be accomplishing, and most importantly, whom we should be hiring as co-workers. It is important that we advance the Shared Vision by seeking qualified characters and talents that fit snugly enough to enhance our collective efforts to and beyond 2010.

Just as talents and skill sets of potential hires are highly valued and needed; character accompanying talent is just as important and ultimately controls the gauge for campus climate.

Dr. Ken Coopwood, Sr.
Director of Diversity & Equity and Assistant to the Chancellor
