Change Your Life
Is your life at a standstill? Are you stuck? Do you want more, but don’t know how to find it? This is the class you have wanted, but could not find. You will deconstruct old beliefs, evaluate behaviors that do not work anymore, and open yourself up to all the possibilities. You can write the script of your life by changing your perception. This is a fun process because you will learn that you DO have the answers.
Thursdays, March 22-April 19
7:00-9:00 p.m., $99
Register after March 12, $109
The Art of Comedy Writing
Learn the techniques you'll need to write and perform a standup comedy act. Whether you're new to concept or you've done some stand up in the past this course will help you put together a killer routine. It seems appropriate to write something funny in this description, but I can’t think of a thing. You will be glad to know I am not the one teaching the class!
Tuesdays, March 20-April 24
7:00-9:30 p.m., $125
Register after March 8 - $135
Home Accessories
When we shop for accessories for our home we rarely know why a piece works and why it looks out of place. We buy things on a whim because we like it at the store and when we get it home it finds the way to the basement or garage sale. Stop making those costly mistakes and learn why and how to use accessories so it looks like a professional designer stopped by your home. Class will take place at retail stores. An additional two classes have be added based on student suggestions.
Wednesdays, February 22, 29, March 7 and 14
6:30-9:00 p.m., $120
Register after Feburary 9 - $130
Staging Your Home For Sale
The “Sold” sign is what you want to see in the front of your real estate listing. Learn what appeals to buyers and how to create the “look” that will sell. You can volunteer your property so the instructor can demonstrate to the class the staging process. The instructor has been working with real estate decorating from California to Chicago for 25 years.
Thursdays, February 16,23, and March 1
7-9 p.m., $80. Classes will meet off campus.
Register after February 8 - $90
Interior Design - Basic
As program manager I am always looking for talented teachers who are experts, have a unique teaching style, give generously of their time, and connect with the students. It was my pleasure to take several of the classes Jane Leslie taught this semester and then move forward to create new classes based on student needs and requests. I hope you will make the time to take some of the classes. Jane Leslie is a design genius. She is also part comedian, part actress, and a genuine caring instructor. You will walk away from these classes with so much knowledge. You will not look at the design world the same ever again.
Interior design is the joy of creating an environment which reflects your lifestyle and personality. This class will be packed with user friendly ideas on space planning, color and lighting, upholstery fabric, furniture selections, window treatments, and accessories. With your budget in mind, you can transform the white box room into a functional and beautiful space. Classes will be held in retail locations in Merrillville. The instructor for this class is a most unique person who will have you laughing, learning, and craving for more information. Don’t miss it!! Going out after class for coffee is optional, but oh so much fun.
Tuesdays, March 13-April 17
6:30-9:00 p.m., $169
Register after March 1 - $179

What makes this class so great…going on field trips, making new friends, laughing and learning even more, eating at cool restaurants, escaping from reality, and seeing design elements in a new way. Now that you know the basics of design, take it to the next level. The entire class will be off campus at retail locations within a 40 miles radius of campus including Chicago. You will explore unique interiors with edge and style, the importance of accessories, and the theory of color. Former students have enjoyed these design classes so much they are intent on having an advanced class. Going out after class for coffee is optional, but is even better since you know your classmates.
