Admission Requirements
Our students come from diverse backgrounds but share a common commitment to educational success. In making our admissions decision, we also look for and consider:
First-Time Students
- Graduation from a commissioned Indiana high school or comparable out-of-state institution. We do accept applications from potential students with above-average scores on the General Educational Development Test (GED).
- Beginning with the graduating class of 2011 high school graduates are are expected to complete at a minimum the Core 40 or Core 40 with academic honors diploma.
- Core 40 requirements include successfully completing a minimum of 34 credits of college-preparatory courses, advanced placement courses and/or college courses that include:
- Eight credits of English
- Six credits of social studies
- Four credits of algebra
- Two credits of geometry
- Six credits of laboratory science
- Eight credits in some combination of additional mathematics, laboratory science, social science, computer science, and other courses of a college-preparatory nature
- Four credits of foreign language are strongly recommended
- Rank in upper half of high school class or show above average scores on the GED (for Indiana residents)
- SAT or ACT scores at or above Indiana median (students who have been out of high school for more than 1 year are not required to submit SAT or ACT scores)
- An official high school transcript
- Undergraduate Admission Application with $35 application fee
- Criminal Activity Disclosure Policy, if applicable
- AP Credit by examination
Transfer Students
- Official high school transcript
- Official college or university transcript showing average or above average achievement (at least a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale)
- Undergraduate Admission Application with $35 application fee
- IU Intercampus Transfer Application if transferring from another IU campus
- Criminal Activity Disclosure Policy, if applicable
A list of courses that will transfer among all Indiana public college and university campuses can be found at Indiana Core Transfer Library. A grade of "C" or better is required for credit.
International Students
- Official transcripts

Visiting Students (students taking courses to transfer to another institution)

- Contact the Division of Continuing Studies for application and information.
Early Start Program for High School Students
- Completion of junior year of high school
- Official high school transcript showing at least a B average
- High school student application
- PSAT or SAT scores (if available)
