May 2005 Strategic Planning Outcome 8 Status Report

Outcome Number: #8
2005 Outcome: A plan for sustaining outreach in NewtonCounty will be developed, program activity in StarkeCounty will be initiated, a needs assessment will be conducted in a third county for engagement, and an inventory of IU Northwest’s collaborative/cooperative activities in Lake, LaPorte and PorterCounties will be completed.
2006 Outcome: Based on three completed needs-assessment/program cycles and a completed inventory of the existing collaborative/cooperative activities in Lake/Porter/LaPorte Counties, a coordinated outreach process has been established to identify and work with local governments, community organizations, school systems and other institutions in the seven county area.
2010 Outcome: IU Northwest successfully collaborates and cooperates in the seven counties it serves on issues relating to sustainable regional vitality and cultural discovery and learning.
2005 Deliverables:

TJ Stoops contacted Starke County United Way. Lori Montalbano-Phelps is in contact with interested parties about women’s initiatives in StarkeCounty. |
TJ has become IU Northwest’s representative on the Starke United “Parents as Teachers” team. The Office of Occupational Development has created a flyer for Starke United which is being distributed throughout StarkeCounty to market the PAT program. Lori and TJ are encountering some of the same people in their communications with Starke, so they will work together to further IU Northwest’s presence there. |
