2008 Strategic Planning

Outcome #2 The campus has created a process to align co-curricular and extra-curricular activities with the on-going general education reform process.

Units have aligned their curricula to meet the general education requirements.

2007 Outcome 2 & Status Report

The Faculty Organization has approved the learning experiences that deliver principles two and three of the General Education Program.

Status Report:  The Faculty Organization has approved Principle 2, and is scheduled to vote on Principle 3 at the February 2008 meeting. Proposals were funded and courses have been developed and/or revised to meet WI requirements.  A plan has been developed for the assessment of all Principle 1 outcomes, and a pilot baseline assessment was conducted on writing outcomes.  Review/creation of possible IW courses was done, and courses were subsequently developed.  Review of all 4 required courses for Principle 1 was completed with stipends for faculty development.  Plans to pilot possible IW courses have been developed with stipends/funds for course development.  Principle 2 requirements and outcomes have been developed.

2006 Strategic Planning Outcome 2 Highlight

Outcome #2 (Anna Rominger, VCAA and Robin Hass-Birky, AVCAA, chairs): The campus has implemented the first phase of the updated General Education goals and objectives, as approved by the faculty, that ensure IU Northwest students are prepared for lifelong learning, ethical practices, developing successful careers, and effective citizenship.

Phase 1: Phase 1 tasks include defining the principles for the delivery of general education and developing the student learning outcomes, the indicators and the assessment tool for Principle #1.

Outcome #2 (Dr. Anna Rominger, Sponsor): 2005, Academic programs and relevant support programs have identified criteria to judge student preparation for lifelong learning, ethical practice, developing successful careers, and effective citizenship.

  • More than 20 meetings were held throughout the year to help refine definitions of four areas of consideration.
  • Definitions identified for lifelong learning, ethical practice, successful careers and effective citizenship were reviewed and commented on by more than 200 individuals.

Year 2006 - Academic programs and relevant support programs have assessed student preparation for lifelong learning, ethical practices, developing successful careers, and effective citizenship to collect baseline data.

Year 2010 - All academic programs and relevant support programs have implemented teaching and learning experiences that ensure they will prepare their 2014 graduates for lifelong learning, ethical practices, developing successful careers, and effective citizenship.
