2011-12 Diversity Awards Nomination

Nominations can be by any employee or student on-line documenting a nominee's area of excellence. Send under seperate cover any supporting documentation to Phyllis Barlow in Lindenwood Hall 404 or e-mail documentation to nwode@iun.edu by March 1, 2012.

Nomination letters must present documentation of excellence in the nominated area, such as awards, letters of support, or other forms of recognition.  All award categories are open to any individual, group, or unit. Once nominated the nominee or nominator would present documentation of excellence in the nominated area through letters of recommendation from students, faculty, and/or staff.

Champion Awards

Categories

  • Champion Award I (Faculty and Staff)
  • Champion Award II (Student)
  • Champion Award III (Community)

Demonstrates Areas of Excellence in One of the Three Following Areas

  1. Developing an innovative program or project that advances diversity.
  2. Demonstrating leadership in diversity work.
  3. Acquiring resources to support diversity efforts.

Advocate Awards

These categories are open to any individual, group, or unit who are not in the primary business of diversity.

Categories

  • Advocate Award I (Faculty, Staff, or Students)
  • Advocate Award II (Faculty, Staff, or Students)

Demonstrates Areas of Excellence in One of the Four Following Areas

  1. Serving as a spokesperson (s) for a particular diversity issue or cause.
  2. Serving as a change agent in regards to policies and procedures related to diversity.
  3. Promoting awareness of issues that diversity groups face.
  4. Recruiting, retaining, and graduating diverse student population

Friend Award

Categories

  • Friend Award (Faculty, Staff, Students, or Community)

Demonstrates Areas of Excellence in One of the Three Following Areas

  1. Contributing creative and unique ideas to support diversity.
  2. Lending vocal support to diversity efforts.
  3. Participating actively in diversity programming.
