History encourages students to explore the human condition by providing a foundation in the historical roots of cultures.  The discipline also familiarizes students with the methods of historical research, teaches critical thinking regarding interpretations of the past, and helps students draw connections between local, national, and global historical events.

A Bachelor of Arts in History prepares students in a wide variety of fields of work, especially those involving critical thinking, research skills, and interpretive analysis of research reports.

A history knowledge background is an important asset for those wishing to embrace careers in archives, museums, and historical preservation societies.  A history B.A. can also prepare one to work in publishing, mass-communication, business, law, politics, foundations, government, and education.
