The Department of Chemistry / Physics / Astronomy at IU Northwest is located in the second floor of Marram Hall. We offer excellent opportunities to pursue the study of the chemical sciences. The department has a small number of full time faculty engaging in a wide variety of disciplines within chemistry and physics. The size of the department allows for small student/faculty ratios with individualized attention possible to our students. The department offers both BA and BS degrees in Chemistry, a minor in Physics as well as an interdepartmental major in Environmental Science. The Chemistry BS degree program is certified by the American Chemical Society (ACS). Our course offerings and research areas include the following list of fields:
The Department typically has around fifty students majoring in Chemistry during the academic year. Chemistry majors typically do research in their senior year as well as take proficiency exams in key areas of their scientific education. Our graduates go on to graduate school, medical and other Professional Health schools, and jobs in chemically related industries. Potential students and visitors with questions about our program are welcome to contact the department secretary or department chair.
Students may wish to pursue a pre-professional curricula and view our Pre-Professional Programs website.
