Unit Name: Mathematics and Actuarial Science (Actuarial Science) Assessment Summary Fall 2007-Spring 2008

  1. Use methods from calculus, probability, and statistics to model and solve problems in business and actuarial practice.
  2. Use methods from theory of interest and life contingencies  to model and solve problems in business and actuarial practice.

How did you assess their skills before, during and / or at the end of the semester / academic year?

Please summarize the data you have collected this semester / academic year.

We plan to:

  1. Assemble portfolios of students’ tests and work on assigned projects in upper-level courses (including M320, M325, and M485).
  2. Request, record, and analyze information on our students’ performance on the exams of the Society of Actuaries or the Casualty Actuarial Society.
  3. Maintain contact with our graduates to determine their success in obtaining employment and/or admission to graduate school.
