Study Abroad

Dates July 1 through July 20, 2012 Program Organization Students fromIndiana University will take classes at the University of the Basque Country (UPV) premises through the University Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC). IU Resident Director:  Eva Mendieta Academic Program 3 - 4 credits in Spanish language (all levels available) 3 credits in International Business (taught in English) 1 credit in Spanish Art (taught in English)

Eligibility

• Students at any IU campus who is making normal academic progress
• Have approximately a 2.5 cumulative GPA

Housing

• IU students will be living in a Spanish household. All meals are provided by the host family and are included in the program price.
• Housing is within commuting distance of classes and is always prearranged ahead of time.
• Bilbao has an excellent public transportation system and, in fact, won first prize for Public Transportation in Europe for the year 2001.

• Summer fees are: $3,120

This fee includes:

• tuition and fees
• housing placement

Estimated expenses not included in fees:

• 3-4 credit hours payable to IU Northwest (3 cr: $575 - 4 cr: $767)
• airfare (approx. $1400-$1600)
• housing deposit (homestay and apartment)—250 EUR/session
• homestay surcharge for meals—$340/session
• metro pass—36 EUR/session
• personal expenses—150-260 EUR/session
• textbooks—45-120 EUR/session
• optional Madrid Tour/Field Study—$750
• surfing lessons (15 hours; local surf shop), includes wetsuit and board—55 EUR

    Payment Deadlines
    

    • May 1, 2012   $800 position hold payment due. This applies to your program fee and is not an additional charge. This cannot be deferred with financial aid. 

    • June 1, 2012  Balance due. Last day to submit proof of accepted financial aid award letter.
