When the RedHawks take the volleyball court next August, Justice will definitely be on their side.

Defensive specialist and libero Justice Anderson, a two-time letter-winner in volleyball for Hobart High School, signed recently to play for Indiana University Northwest, where she will study business. Anderson said she had considered attending IUPUI but that the opportunity to continue playing volleyball at Northwest Indiana’s IU campus was too attractive to pass up.

“I didn’t want to give up volleyball,” said Anderson, who said that she’s had her eye on the RedHawk program for a while. “I visited here two and a half years ago for the previous coach. And I know a lot of the team.”

RedHawk head coach Sarah Keilman knows what it’s like to coach against Justice, having faced her in AAU volleyball, so she will be doubly excited to welcome the high school senior to campus next August.

“She’s the only player who ever forced me to call a timeout just to tell my team not to hit it to her, because she was digging out everything,” Keilman said. “I look forward to coaching Justice instead of coaching against her. She is a huge pickup for our team.”

Justice’s mother, Cheryl Anderson, has followed her daughter’s career closely in high school and is excited that she will continue to play locally at the collegiate level.

“I will be her number-one fan at all the home games, and probably a lot of the away games, too,” she said.

Justice Anderson is a high-profile addition to a squad that should have everyone returning from the 2011 campaign. With another year of experience and the addition of some fresh talent, the RedHawk spikers are looking to become more competitive in the A.I.I. conference in the coming season.
