At a time when a college degree is considered essential but the financial challenges of attending college are greater than ever, the Indiana University Northwest School of Business and Economics granted more than $50,000 in student scholarships for the 2011-12 academic year.

For 14 undergraduate students, nearly $20,000 in scholarship aid was awarded in totals ranging from $200 to $5,000 each; meanwhile, $30,000 was also awarded to 14 graduate students seeking their MBA.

“We know there is concern in the community about the cost of college among both students and parents,” said Anna Rominger, Dean of the School of Business and Economics.  “The fact that we have been able to offer our students significant scholarships lowers their overall costs. This eases the burden of paying for college.”

The IU Northwest School of Business and Economics offers an undergraduate bachelor’s degree in business with concentrations in either business administration or accounting/financial information systems. Graduate students may choose to earn a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting or enroll in the MBA for Professionals program, which offers both evening and weekend options for busy professionals who wish to balance their education with work and home life.

IU Northwest remains the only public business program in Northwest Indiana that is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB), a benchmark of quality attained by only 5 percent of business schools worldwide.
