Business Luncheon

Morgan Stanley Vice Chairman and IU Trustree Bill Strong

On Thursday, April 21, the Indiana University Northwest School of Business and Economics – Chicagoland’s Affordable AACSB Business School – and the IU Northwest Business Alliance will welcome Morgan Stanley Vice Chairman and Indiana University trustee Bill Strong as the speaker for the 2011 Business Speakers Series Luncheon at the Radisson Hotel Star Plaza. Doors open at 11 a.m. and lunch is served at 12 p.m. in the Grand Metropolitan room of the Radisson, located at 800 E. 81st Ave. in Merrillville.

Keynote Bill Strong, a nationally recognized investment banker, is currently based in Chicago for Morgan Stanley, a global financial services firm. His specialty at Morgan Stanley is assisting his clients in completing mergers, acquisitions and divestitures as well as capital raising transactions, representing such clients as Boeing, Parker-Hannifin, Northern Trust, CDW Corporation, World Color Press, BorgWarner and TransUnion Corp.

Recently appointed to the Indiana University Board of Trustees by Governor Mitchell Daniels, Strong has also had experience in government roles, including leading an economic mission to Iraq in 2008 in which he conferred with leading Iraqi and U.S. officials on accelerating Western investments into Iraq. He was also appointed by President George W. Bush to the Board of Visitors of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY.

Over his 30+ year career, Strong has assisted clients with transactions in more than 20 countries around the world.

Strong is active in various non-profit activities, including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Newseum, a Washington, D.C. museum dedicated to celebrating the First Amendment, and The Economic Club of Chicago.

His expertise has afforded him many prestigious assignments and honors, including an appointment as National Co-Chairman and National Finance Chairman for Governor Tim Pawlenty’s Political Action Committee, a delegate to the Republican National Convention and the honor of receiving the Civic Achievement Award from the American Jewish Committee.  In 2007, The Dealmaker named him one of the top investment bankers in the U.S.

Strong was educated at Northwestern University, where he earned his master’s of business administration degree, and at Purdue University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial management.

IU Northwest, the School of Business and Economics, and the IU Northwest Business Alliance are pleased to welcome Bill Strong to Northwest Indiana for the 2011 Business Speakers Series Luncheon. This annual event serves as a fundraiser to benefit the business school, which is the only public business program in Northwest Indiana to be accredited by the prestigious Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB). In January 2010, AACSB reaffirmed the business school’s accreditation for another six years.

The IU Northwest Business Alliance strives to create a professional partnership between the IU Northwest School of Business and Economics and members of the Northwest Indiana business community. This partnership is meant to increase the interaction between the school and the business community by leveraging faculty and staff expertise to assist local businesses, by retaining the school’s students for jobs in Northwest Indiana, and by ensuring business input into the school’s curriculum planning and mission processes.

Tickets are $40 per person or $350 for a table of 10, which includes eight corporate representatives and two business and economic students.

Platinum, Gold and Silver sponsorship packages are also available. For more information, or to register, contact Karen Peterson at (219) 980-6633 or
