Theater Northwest, the performance company of the Indiana University Northwest Department of Performing Arts, has announced open auditions for the fall production “Reckless.” IU Northwest students, faculty, staff, as well as the greater Northwest Indiana community are encouraged to audition from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14 and Thursday, Sept. 15.

The auditions will take place at Theatre Northwest at Arts on Grant, located just west of the IU Northwest campus in the Village Shopping Center at 37th Avenue and Grant Street.

The casting call is open to actors and actresses of all levels, including those with no experience. The cast will consist of four women and three men.

The fall production ‘Reckless’ by Craig Lucas takes place on the eve of Christmas, 1983. Rachel, mother of two, is deliriously happy. That is, until she discovers that her husband has taken a contract out on her life. What follows is the absurdly dark, insanely funny story of Rachel's reckless ride through guilt, game shows and the gutter in search of serenity and redemption.

Rehearsals are scheduled for Monday through Friday, starting Monday, Sept. 19 and ending Wednesday, Nov. 9. Rehearsal times are scheduled for 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., but may be flexible depending on the casting.

The performances will take place 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, Friday, Nov. 11, and Saturday, Nov. 12. The final performance will be 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13. This will be the first production to open in IU Northwest’s newest production venue, Theatre Northwest at Arts on Grant.
