The Indiana University Northwest Office of Diversity Programming and the Office of Student Support Services will host a conference from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 19 to raise awareness for Disabilities Employment, recognized during the month of October.

The event, taking place in the John W. Anderson Library Conference Center lobby, will showcase services and resources that can help individuals with disabilities function well in the workplace, as well as guide business owners in accommodating those with disabilities.

From service dogs to adaptive technology for computers and more, exhibitors will represent such organizations as Trade Winds, Vocational Rehab Services, ARC of Indiana, K-9 Companions, The National Federation of the Blind-Gary Chapter, among others. Representatives of IU Northwest’s Information Technology Department will be on hand to demonstrate adaptive technology services designed to help those with disabilities use computers.

A representative from The Center for Workforce Innovation, an employment service center in Valparaiso, will offer tips, tools and resources to assist those with disabilities in their job search.  Those with disabilities seeking employment are urged to bring along their resume for valuable advice and feedback.

A continental breakfast will be served.
