IU Northwest to host Candidate Forum April 20 for City of Gary

Mayor, judge and clerk candidates to discuss their positions in advance of May 3 election

The Indiana University Northwest Office of Diversity Programming, the Black Student Union and the Department of Minority Studies Gary Midtown Project, in partnership with the Gary Democratic Precinct Organization and Lakeshore Public Television, are proud to present the Gary Candidate Forum on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Savannah Center’s Bergland Auditorium.

Candidates in City of Gary races for mayor, clerk and judge will take the stage to discuss their positions in advance of the May 3 election. Judge and clerk candidates will appear from 5:30 until 6:45 p.m., and mayoral candidates will appear from 7 until approximately 8:15 p.m.

Lakeshore Public Television will televise the mayoral portion of the forum, and Lakeshore anchor Jodi Juhl will moderate that discussion. 

The IU Northwest Office of Diversity Programming is pleased to partner with the university’s Department of Minority Studies and Gary Midtown Project, and its Black Student Union, and with community partners Lakeshore Public Television and the Gary Democratic Precinct Organization, to present this civic event.

Doors to the Bergland Auditorium open at 5 p.m. Seating is limited and will be first-come, first-served. There will be overflow viewing available via closed-circuit broadcast in the Moraine Student Center.
