The Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs in the College of Health and Human Services invites the public and campus community to attend a series of informative presentations in recognition of Public Affairs Month.

The following issues will be discussed:

Becoming a Special Agent

At 7 p.m., Thursday, April 7 in the Library Conference Center (room 105ABC), James Vanderberg will speak about becoming a special agent. Vanderberg is Special Agent-in-Charge of the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Inspector General, in Chicago.

Environmental Issues

At 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 12 in the Library Conference Center (room 105ABC), Gary native Ted Coopwood, motivational speaker and author, will present “Improving your Community: An Environmental Perspective.” Coopwood is currently employed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Children’s Health Programs.

Health Disparities

At 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 19 in the Library Conference Center (room 105ABC), Dr. Monica Vela, a physician at The University of Chicago Medical Center, will speak about health disparities on the South Side of Chicago.

Preventing Child Abuse and Neglect

At 8 a.m., Friday, April 29 in the Bruce W. Bergland Auditorium in the Savannah Center, Actor Victor Rivas Rivers, an advocate for preventing violence against women and children, will speak. The presentation is part of the 21st Annual Forum on Child Abuse and Neglect.
