IU Northwest Alumni Association to celebrate 50th Anniversary with June 27 alumni barbecue, Theatre Northwest performance

IU and IU Northwest alumni are invited back to campus for an evening of great food, artwork and comic theater

As part of this year’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Indiana University Northwest campus, the IU Northwest Alumni Association (IUNAA) will host a barbecue on Saturday, June 27, beginning at 5 p.m., on the campus grounds just south of the Savannah Center.

The cost of attendance is $7 for paid IU Alumni Association members and $10 for non-members. This price includes a ticket to the Saturday evening performance of Theatre Northwest’s “Death Defying Acts” in Raintree Hall Room 102. This stage comedy features one-act plays from Woody Allen, Elaine May and David Mamet.

Also, the art exhibit “It’s Our Turn: High School Art Teachers’ Exhibit,” will be open for viewing in the Savannah Gallery for Contemporary Art. This exhibit, which opens June 22, features a variety of works and styles from some of Northwest Indiana’s most accomplished high school art instructors. IU alumni are invited to take time during that Saturday afternoon’s activities to peruse this compelling exhibit.

As the IU Northwest campus celebrates its 50th anniversary, the university invites all IU and IU Northwest alumni to take part in these and other upcoming commemorative festivities. For more information on the June 27 alumni barbecue, email IU Northwest Alumni Relations Director Paulette LaFata-Johnson at, or call her at (219) 980-6769.
